What it does
InstruMentor is the structured, searchable companion to the secondary instrumental methods course. For each instrument family, it presents a pedagogy packet: tone production, embouchure or setup, common student errors, sequenced repertoire, and the specific kinds of diagnostic listening a teacher needs to develop. The packets are deliberately non-encyclopedic. The goal isn’t to know everything about the bassoon; it’s to know what to listen for and how to fix it.
Coverage
Pedagogy packets for: Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Low Brass, Euphonium, Tuba, Beginner & Accessory Percussion, Violin, Cello.
Each packet sits alongside a grounding layer — published scholarship, podcast transcripts, and notes from established master teachers (Eddie Green’s On Teaching Band among them) — so the practical advice is always traceable back to its source.
Adjacent tools
A wind-ensemble seating generator built on the literature on intra-ensemble coordination, with research synthesis included.
Status
Live, in active use each spring, and updated each semester as new instruments and packets come online.
